Cross-border · Currencies

Several currencies, one figure.

A salary in euros, savings left behind in Swiss francs, a broker line in dollars. Most budgeting apps ask you to pick one currency and work the rest out yourself. Avuru leaves every account in its own and totals it up in whichever one you want to read.

What we do not do for you

  • No forced conversion in your history. An amount entered in francs stays in francs.
  • No automatic revaluation of an asset you declared yourself.
  • No currency advice and no suggested trades on your holdings.

What you get

  • Net worth calculated across every account, whatever its currency.
  • The display currency changes like a preference, without breaking anything underneath.
  • Non-bank assets join the total with their own currency.
  • A budget that does not make you pick one country and forget the other.
The principle

The currency belongs to the account, not to the app.

1 · Your accounts

Each keeps its own money.

A Luxembourg account in euros, a Swiss one in francs, an old British one in sterling. Each keeps its original currency, and its transactions stay readable exactly as the bank wrote them. That is the only way to find an amount again when a tax return or a dispute needs it.

2 · Your total

One reading currency, chosen by you.

Net worth shows in whichever currency you prefer, and you can change it without altering anything underneath. It is a display setting. Nothing gets rewritten, nothing gets lost, and you can switch back.

3 · The rest of your wealth

Property, broker, crypto.

A flat, a REIT line, precious metals, a crypto position: you declare a name, a value and its currency, and it joins the total. Those values are yours and Avuru does not revise them behind your back. If the asset is held through a property company, joint ownership or a split interest, that can be declared too.

Frequently asked

Is my history converted into euros?

No. An account opened in Swiss francs stays a Swiss franc account, and its transactions keep their original amounts. Conversion is used for the consolidated total, it does not rewrite your history.

Which currency is my net worth shown in?

The one you choose. It is a display preference: changing it touches no account and modifies no transaction.

Why do ordinary budgeting apps struggle with this?

Because they assume you live in a single country. YNAB, for instance, limits a budget to one currency, which forces you to keep two separate budgets when you earn in one currency and spend in another.

What about assets that are not bank accounts?

A property, a broker line or a crypto position is declared with its value and its currency, and joins the total like everything else. A value you declare stays yours: Avuru never revalues an asset on your behalf.

How do I add a foreign account?

By importing a PDF statement, a photo, a CSV or an OFX file, or by typing it in, which takes about thirty seconds. Automatic bank connection is still being built and is not available yet.
